So, for those wondering why Andy wasn't in work last week. Here is why.
Andy took part in the inaugural Arc 50 trail run, hosted and organised by Mud Crew Events. It is the baby brother to the already established Arc 100.
The event involves running from the stage at the Minack Theatre at Perranuthno along the coast footpath to the Eco Park at Porthtowan, being a total of 50.9 miles.
The race starts at 8.30 am sharp and competitors have 15.5 hours to complete the course, by Midnight the same day. The couse takes in the stunning scenery around Land's End, passing Cape Cornwall and Pendeen Watch, Botallack Mines and into St Ives for the first check point at 29 miles. Then its 22 miles via Hayle, The Towans, Godrevy, Hell's Mouth, Potreath and finally ending at Porthtowan.
The race started in hail showers, enjoyed relatively sunny daylight hours, but was dominated by a stiff NW wind.
Andy was delighted to finish in just over 14 and a quarter hours and took a full week to be able walk properly again.
And all just for the hell of it!
Watch out for his next challenge.
